Hassan Amin Jarrar

Hassan Jarrar was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Islamic Bank in July, 2015. He is responsible for leading and implementing of the overall strategy of Bahrain’s first Islamic financial institution.


Hassan has over 28 years of banking experience, 19 of which have been in the Middle East.  Prior to joining Bahrain Islamic Bank, he served as Chief Executive Office of Standard Chartered Bank, Bahrain since October 2011. He has a diverse banking background with extensive experience in retail, SME and corporate banking in the Middle East and the US. Hassan’s previous appointments in the region include Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate and SME Banking at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Head of Corporate Banking, Abu Dhabi at Mashreqbank.


Before returning to the Middle East, Hassan spent 20 years in the United States where he began his career and held key management positions with Security Pacific Bank and Bank of America.  He received his BSc in Finance from California State University, San Jose. Hassan serves on the Boards of the Bahrain Association of Banks , Bahrain Institute of  Banking and Finance (BIBF)  and Tamkeen.
