Abdul Halim Salleh
Mr. Halim Salleh is the Senior Vice President, Treasury & Capital Markets of Cagamas Berhad, the country’s largest corporate bonds and sukuk issuer, after the Government of Malaysia. He was conferred The Asset’s Treasurer of the Year (Malaysia) award in Hong Kong in May 2016 in recognition of his achievements in both the local and international capital markets through exemplary market initiatives creating liquidity and improving pricing.
He successfully transformed the Company from a domestically centric funding entity into one of Asia’s top corporate bonds and sukuk issuers with the Company’s inaugural 1.5 billion Offshore Renminbi issuance – the largest RMB bond in Southeast Asia to-date which received accreditation from numerous international publications and agencies as Best Offshore Renminbi Offering, South East Asia Best Foreign Currency Bond Deal, Market Pioneer Recognition and Corporate Issuer of the Year.
The Islamic Sukuk raised through both the domestic and multiple currency programmes achieved many breakthroughs for capital market transactions in Malaysia and beyond, including the country’s largest Sukuk Commodity Murabahah issuance amounting to RM4.2 billion in 2013 whilst garnering a number of awards and accolades along the way.
Halim has over 20 years’ experience in the area of treasury, investment and derivatives where he managed the Equity Index Arbitrage Operations.
Halim obtained the Futures Broker Representative and Fund Manager Representative license in 1996 and 2002 respectively. He is a member of the Financial Markets Association Malaysia and also serves as Head of the Regulated Activity for Cagamas under the country’s Capital Market & Services Act 2007.
